White Day in Japan is called Howaito Dee (ホワイトデー) and it is the answer for Valentine’s Day. On February 14, girls give chocolates to their loved ones in Japan. One month afterwards, on March 14, guys give the answer with yummy chocolate as well.
One of the cool things about this chocolate exchange, is that you can choose from a wide variety of chocolate sweets that you can find almost everywhere in Japan, from konbinis to supermarkets to special chocolate shops. Seasonal chocolate flavors also help making this day special. So, here you have some options for you to consider during the White Day.
One of my number 1 option would be MeltyKiss chocolates by Meiji. They are really creamy and yummy. Plus, you can find different flavors throughout the year. Each season comes with new flavors.
My number 2 option is Kinoko no Yama. Kinoko no Yama are chocolates with cookies with a mushroom shape. They are really cute and also really yummy. You always can find the classical ones, and sometimes you can find seasonal ones too.
Another option is to create your own chocolates and sweets for your loved ones. You can also create yummy sweets with chocolates for Hinamatsuri. Hinamatsuri is the Doll’s Day or Girls’ Day and it’s on March 3. Families display their dolls at home. They are beautiful! But you can also create very yummy chocolates and chocolate sweets.
