Rinkya: How did you become involved with Blythe? Did you work for the company and if so when and what was it like?

Susana: I discovered Blythe dolls in early 2013, for 3 or 4 months I researched about them, looking for pictures of Blythe dolls customized with curly hair (my hair is curly) and using them as profile pictures in my whatsapp account, in mid-July I decided to buy my first customized doll, she was a TBL (although I bought it as Factory), when she arrived, I thought she was so beautiful .. but over time, I realized it was not a good custom work

R: Do you feel that dolls live happier with dolls houses? Which room do you think suits them best?

M: It’s beautiful to have a dollhouse for some Blythe dolls, but it is impossible with a great collection. I look at my dolls in a different way. Each one of them lives with me at home. She sits down on my table and on my sofa, and rests in a display cabinet along with the others and without clothing to avoid dust or get dirty because of an inappropriate cloth.

Rinkya: What are Blythe Dolls and how do they differ from other Japanese collectible dolls (Dollfies, Ball- jointed, etc)?

Maria: Blythe dolls have many characteristics that make them different. Their larger heads stand out from their bodies, compared to other Japanese dolls (dollfies, Licca… ), and the way they move their eyes in 4 positions through a simple mechanism (a ring to pull and a cord). Moreover, every one of them is unique: with their personalized box, name, clothing set and birth date. There aren’t many variants of New Blythe, nor different companies that make them. Blythe is from TAKARA BLYTHE, made as a series, unlike BJD, for example.
