Japan travel gets interesting in Akihabara where you can enjoy the famous Akihabara maid cafe @Home Cafe. If you’re visiting Tokyo, one place to enjoy the Otaku culture are maid cafés in Akihabara. One of the best, if not the best, is @Home Cafe. It’s cute, and maids are really sweet. Many people enjoy maid cafes because they are like little amusement parks: they’re cute, they have kawaii yummy food and they’re real fun! There are many maid cafes in Akiba, but this one is special. Not only it got a “Certificate of Excellence 2015” from TripAdvisor, it’s also one of the best places where to enjoy the maid experience.

It’s located near Akihabara station, and you can easily spot it thanks to the banners that point to it. Banners are cute and have maid faces. It’s located from the 4th to the 7th floor of the building. Since it’s a famous spot, it’s usually very crowded. But if you don’t want to wait for long, the best time is to go during mornings or at night.
@Home Cafe has premium maids that can be famous as pop idols as well. Premium maids are popular with the customers. This is Hitomi-san, one of the premium maids.
The design of the cafe is pinkish with bright colors. Really cute! Since the cafe is really crowded, there is a limit to stay in of 1 hour, but you might be able to be more time, but extra charges will be required.
There is an admission fee of 600yen, plus a service charge. Food and drinks are also charged. If you have questions about the system, ask them to the staff of the cafe (it’s always the safest way). If you don’t know any Japanese, don’t panic. They also have the menu and explanations in English.
Maids are there for you, so you can ask them to draw pictures onto your drinks. You can ask something easy like a kitten, or something more complicated like a train. Maids will always try their best to please you.
Maids will also cheer you up! One way is to make heart shapes with your hands before starting to sip your drink.
The most popular dish in the cafe is the pipiyopiyopiyo ♪ chick pea rice. All dishes on the menu have special names and are really funny. All is cute and wonderful!
Maids also perform, but it’s done in a irregular schedule. The only way to make sure that you’ll see it, is to go regularly to the cafe.
There are no restrictions to enter into the cafe: families are welcome, couples, otaku.. anyone who is interested in enjoying a cute time!
