Geta Stacking Contest in Japan!

A 3rd Annual Geta Stacking Contest took place over the weekend in Sakaiminato, Japan.

Geta are shoes traditionally worn with kimonos and yukatas, but are also worn with normal clothing nowadays. Typically made with wood and the flap with cloth, they also elevate you inches (much loved by short Japanese woman!)

The “teeth” on the bottom of the shoe are used to stack the getas up high in the contest shown above.
