Today we have a very cute, but perhaps not so healthy, bento box recipe: a Spam Onigiri Totoro Bento Box! It is super easy to make and it is a great idea to have tons of fun creating these cute Spam Totoro Onigiris! So, what do we need?
Ingredients: a can of spam, nori, boiled rice, veggies that we like, cheese, some patience and lots of wishes to have fun!
First we need to take out the Spam from its can. Keep the can because we’ll use it to create the shape of Totoro’s (and their sizes). Cut the Spam not so thick, not so thin, on the long part (not on the short one). Then, take a pen and an empty milk recipient (made of paper), and cut it with the shape of Totoro. You can use a pen to guide yourself. If you put it on the slices of Spam, you’ll get a Totoro shadow.
Take some wrapping clear plastic and put it into the Spam can. Then fill it with boiled rice, and then take it out. You’ll get a squared shape. Onto it we’ll place the Totoro Spam shadow.
Once you’ve placed the Totoro Spam shadows onto the rice shapes, take some cheese and cut the eyes and mouth of Totoro. Then, take some nori, and create the rest of his face (black part of the eyes, etc).
Then create a Nori belt around Totoro. That’s to stick our Spam Totoro onto the rice. We end up the final details with some nori, and that’s it! We’re done! We can decorate the surroundings further with some veggies we like. I know Spam isn’t that healthy, but it is so yummy, and it’s a great idea for a bento box! Try it out with Totoro!
