Rinkya Japanese Flashcards: grammar flashcard “~no hou”

flashcard, japanese, japan, japanese flashcard, rinkya, rinkya japan, learn japanese, grammar, japanese grammar, japanese grammar flashcard, grammar flashcard

Are you collecting all Rinkya Japanese flashcards? Great! Today we are going to learn how to use “~no hou.” We use it to make comparisons. For example, if we want to say that a red car is better for us we say:

赤い車の方がいいと思います。I think that a red car is better.
Akai kuruma no hou ga ii to omoimasu.

We can also use it to compare two things:
漫画と本は、漫画の方が面白いと思います。I think that comics are more interesting than books.
Manga to hon wa, manga no hou ga omoshiroi to omoimasu.

To create the sentence we only need to put the preferred thing before “~no hou” and after it, “ga” and the adjective of choice. It is easy, isn’t it?

Are you collecting all Rinkya Japanese flashcards? Good! We are going to learn what “~shi, ~shi, ~shi” means. We use it to list states, processes and actions. For example, if I want to state that I ate in a McDonald’s, wrote letters and studied Japanese, I can do that using “~shi, ~shi, ~shi.”

マクドで食べたし、手紙を書いたし、日本語も勉強しました。I ate in a McDonald’s, wrote letters and also studied Japanese.
Makudo de tabetashi, tegami wo kaitashi, nihongo mo benkyou shimashita.

We put the verb in past reduced form and add “shi” to it. If it’s an adjective we leave it like it is. For example, 広いし “hiroishi” or きれいだし “kireidashi.” Please note that “na” adjectives need the verb “da” to be able to match “shi.”

Can you think about some examples now? What would you say?
