Rinkya Japanese Flashcards: “kachou fuugetsu”

Are you collecting all Rinkya Japanese flashcards?? Good! Today we have a very simple flashcard: “kachou fuugetsu.” It means “the beauties of nature.” The kanjis that form this word are really nice. We have “ka,” alone read as “hana” (flower); “chou,” alone read as “tori” (bird); “fuu,” alone read as “kaze” (wind); and “getsu,” alone read as “tsuki” (moon). Indeed these kanjis point at some of the beauties of nature: flowers, animals, the wind that caresses our faces and also the moon we can see up in the sky. What do you think? Any clues? “Gori muchuu” means to be in the fog, to be in the dark, to have no clue about what’s going on, to be confused. Think about the image. When you are in the middle of a thick fog, you are confused, disoriented and have no clue about your surroundings. In that sense, “gori muchuu” explains that there are some times in which we can feel like being in the fog, confused and having no clue about what’s going on. Can you think about any situations in which you can apply it?
