Today we have a very cute bento box recipe: a little demon norimaki! In Japan we say: “鬼は外~福は内~,” (oni wa soto, fuku wa uchi). It means that demons are kept outside, but good luck is kept inside. So, we can state that also with food. With this cute bento box recipe you’re going to win your family’s stomachs! It is really cute and not so difficult to make.

Ingredients: omelette, nori, boiled rice, ketchup. (You can change the ketchup for another flavor, we use it to create the color of the little devil that you see in the picture).

We have a new one for you: “konrinzai.” This is a word that can be used as a synonym of “zettaini,” meaning “not… at all.” You can use it to state that that thing is never going to happen, not in a million years, not in the whole eternity! It is a very strong word to say “no,” so think it twice before you use it, because it is a pretty strong statement. You will find this word in literature, but you could also find it in manga.

We follow with our accounts about Hyper Japan! And we bring you along the way some Xmas presents ideas, just in case you are still wondering what to buy to your loved ones.

This is the Tell Tails, a funny shops of… tails! Yup, you can now wear a tail if you want to. Usually the tail stick out and wags as you walk. The store gentle folk mentioned that they were made in the UK. As you can see, he has them tied to his back. I think the didn’t want to stab or accidentally hit someone with it during Hyper Japan, but if you are being polite and taking public transport, it is good manners to tie it up so you don’t hit people with your tail. You can do furry tails or if you like, or you can even go Godzilla!!

Hyper Japan + Xmas in Japan + cute Bonsais

Hyper Japan this year had awesome staff that greeted you in the entrance with mementos from Japan. They had an awesome Xmas tree with a twist: you could adorn it with your wishes, like if you were in Japan. When you go to a temple, you can write your wishes on wooden blocks and leave them there so they become true. Instead to do it within a Japanese temple, Hyper Japan greeted you with the possibility of mixing Western culture with Japanese culture. Your wishes would decorate a Xmas tree! (How cool is that!?)
